Our Story

How a Web Design Scam Launched Our Business

In 2016, while preparing to launch our first software product, we realized we still needed a website. Software was familiar territory. Web design was not, so we hired a small firm that promised a completed site in six weeks with regular check-ins.

The check-ins never came. Weeks later, they suddenly told us the project was finished. What they delivered was essentially a default WordPress theme. We had paid $1,400, 60% upfront, and had almost nothing to show for it.

So we learned how to build the site ourselves.

That bad experience ended up defining how Webizyte operates today. We built our own website, other businesses began asking us to build theirs, and a painful mistake became the foundation of a new business.

It also gave us a permanent rule: clients should never have to wonder what’s happening with their project. Communication, accountability, transparency, and realistic expectations are built into how we work from the beginning.

Most Websites Lose People in the First 3 Seconds

Most businesses don’t need more traffic first. They need a website that does a better job with the traffic they already have.

If people do not immediately understand what you do, they leave.
If your site is slow, both users and search engines punish it.
If your content does not build trust, visitors do not convert.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the typical cost to develop a website?
Website cost depends on the number of pages, content, media, functionality, and overall scope. The fastest way to get a realistic estimate is to complete our free website audit. We can review what you have, talk through what you need, and recommend a build based on your actual goals.
How long does it typically take to develop a website?
Most projects take roughly 4 to 12 weeks depending on size, functionality, content, and revision needs. A typical business website is often completed in about seven weeks.
Do you build e-commerce sites or online stores?
Yes. We build e-commerce websites for businesses selling products online. The right platform and setup depend on your catalog, payment requirements, shipping needs, and the way you want customers to shop.
Who hosts your websites?
We host our websites on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Each site is placed in its own server environment rather than sharing resources with a large pool of unrelated client websites. That gives us more control over performance, security, uptime, and scaling.
Are your websites secure?
Yes. Every site includes SSL encryption and is routinely maintained and checked for security issues. We also manage the hosting environment, updates, and backups so security is handled as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time setup.
Do you offer discounts on referrals?
Yes. We offer referral incentives for clients who send new business our way. Ask us about the current referral program and we will walk you through the details.
Is my website backed up in a secure location?
Yes. We use multiple layers of backup and recovery so a single failure does not become a disaster. We are intentionally a little paranoid about this stuff.
How much increased traffic can I expect my website to generate?
There is no responsible way to promise an exact traffic increase. Organic visibility depends on your market, competition, search demand, content, site authority, technical performance, and other factors.

Our job is to give the website the strongest possible foundation for organic growth before you spend money driving additional traffic to it.

Do you give updates during the development phase?
Yes. You receive regular progress updates throughout the build so you know what is finished, what we are working on, and what is coming next. You also have direct access to the developer leading your project when you need to talk something through.
Are post-development changes to my website covered?
Yes. Our standard maintenance includes two hours of content or site-change labor each month in addition to routine front-end, back-end, and server maintenance. Larger changes can be scoped separately.
Do you only build the website or do you also maintain it?
Yes. We offer ongoing hosting and maintenance after launch, including updates, security checks, monitoring, optimization, and light content changes. The goal is to keep the site healthy instead of treating launch day as the finish line.
Do you optimize your websites with the latest Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Yes. SEO is part of the build from the beginning. We address site structure, on-page optimization, technical performance, indexing, and search-focused content so you are not trying to repair the foundation after launch.
Are your websites optimized in responsiveness for all mobile devices?
Yes. Every website is built and tested for phones, tablets, laptops, and desktop screens. Mobile performance is treated as a core part of the build, not a scaled-down version we deal with at the end.
How many pages are included in your websites?
There is no fixed page count. We recommend the number of pages your business actually needs to explain its services, answer customer questions, support search visibility, and create clear conversion paths. For many small-business sites, that ends up somewhere around four to eight core pages.
Do you connect your websites with any analytics platforms?
Yes. We can connect your site to Google Analytics so you can monitor traffic, user behavior, and performance over time. We also use analytics to help guide ongoing improvements.
Am I allowed to modify code or content on my website?
You always retain access to your website and source code. If we are actively maintaining the site, we ask that development-level changes be coordinated with us first so updates do not conflict with the code, plugins, security, or server configuration we are responsible for maintaining.
Is my website easily accessible all over the world?
Yes. Your website can be accessed globally wherever local internet access allows it. Our hosting and performance decisions are primarily optimized for businesses serving customers in the United States.
Are there any types of sites you do not build?
Yes. We decline projects centered on hateful, abusive, violent, or adult content. We also reserve the right to decline projects that are not a good fit for our team or capabilities.
What are some things you will need from me in order to develop my website?
We usually need your core business information, services, goals, brand assets, existing content or media, and any examples that help us understand what you like or dislike. We guide you through the rest during Discovery. You can also review our process.

Additional Questions

How do I know if my website needs to be modernized or revamped?
Start with performance, mobile usability, search visibility, clarity, and conversion. We use tools such as Google Lighthouse alongside a hands-on review of messaging, structure, responsiveness, SEO, and user experience. If the site is slow, confusing, outdated, difficult to use, or failing to generate inquiries, it is probably time to improve it.
Is my build time guaranteed?
We give you a realistic project timeline up front, but every website has moving parts. Major content changes, new functionality, delayed feedback, or additional revisions can affect the schedule. We keep you updated throughout the build so there are no surprises.
What does the Hosting and Maintenance package include?
Our Hosting and Maintenance package includes AWS hosting, SSL, server and website updates, monitoring, security maintenance, performance tuning, backups, and two hours of monthly labor for content or site changes.
Am I able to expedite the build of my website?
Sometimes, depending on scope and our current workload. We can discuss an accelerated schedule up front, but we will not skip the design, development, testing, security, or launch work needed to put a reliable site into production.
How do I add or modify content in the future after my website is published?
Send us the requested text, images, media, or page changes and a quick description of what you want updated. If you are on a maintenance plan, we can usually handle routine changes without you needing to touch the backend yourself.
Am I charged for extra time spent on a website?
Not for work already included in the agreed project scope. Additional pages, functionality, or major changes outside that scope are discussed and approved before we add them to the project.
Am I obligated to host and maintain my website with Webizyte?
No. You retain access to your website and source code, and you are not required to host or maintain the site with Webizyte. We offer ongoing hosting and maintenance because it lets the same team that built the site continue caring for it after launch.
I'm not the best at writing. Can you provide written content for my website?
Yes. We can help develop website copy, page messaging, blog content, graphics, logos, and other marketing assets as part of the project. You do not need to arrive with every sentence already written.
How much time will additional pages add to my build scope?
It depends on the page. A straightforward content page may add very little time, while a page with custom functionality, interactive elements, significant media, or new content development can add more. We estimate that impact before adding it to the scope.
Do I have to find a web developer to publish or maintain my website after it's ready?
No. We can host, publish, and maintain the site for you after launch, so you do not need to find another developer. If you prefer to move elsewhere, you still retain access to your website and source code.
What if I don't like what I see when things are ready?
You see the site throughout the build, not for the first time at launch. Regular reviews give us a chance to correct direction early, gather your feedback, and keep revisions manageable instead of discovering major surprises at the end.
What consulting services do you offer during a website build?
We help with site strategy, structure, messaging, SEO, conversion paths, content planning, performance, accessibility, and the overall way your services are presented online. The recommendations are based on your business and market rather than a generic template.
How often do I need to change my website's content once it's published?
There is no universal schedule. Some businesses benefit from frequent updates, while others need changes only when services, products, offers, or important information changes. We recommend updating content when it improves usefulness, accuracy, search visibility, or conversion rather than changing pages just to change them.
What if I'm still unhappy with my website after I've exhausted all revisions?
We try to prevent that situation through Discovery, regular progress reviews, and revisions throughout the build. If a serious issue remains after the agreed revision process, we handle it directly with you based on the project scope and circumstances.
